The 5cm Waffle Grid Softbox Effect Lighting Diffuser attaches to any  120cm Recessed Octagonal  that have a Velcro-lined edge.  Large octagonal softboxes are ideal for lighting medium-sized to large products, and full-length body shots of multiple subjects.

Light Spill Prevention

The 5cm waffle honeycomb grid (also known as an egg-crate) attaches to any recessed softbox that has a Velcro-lined edge. They are used to restrict the spread of light, preventing light from spilling onto areas where you don’t want the light to fall, such as in the background when you are shooting a low-key image.

Lens Flare Reduction

It is especially useful for preventing you from getting lens flare when you are backlighting or rim lighting your subject.

Top Tip

As with all grid lighting diffusers, there is a slight reduction in light output compared to using a softbox without a honeycomb. Additionally, the restricted light spread results in a minor loss of softness. However, these effects can be easily adjusted by moving the softbox closer to your subject. This helps compensate for the light loss while also increasing the apparent size of the light source, resulting in softer and more flattering illumination.
